Electricity has come to New Wood Campground! As of June 27, 2025 the campsites have been energized. Sites 1-5 have up to 50 amp service and sites 6 & 7 have up to 30 amp service. Please do not tamper with the main breaker near the highway, it should only be used to cut power in an emergency!
As of noon Tuesday August 26, 2025 Lincoln County is only accepting online camping registrations with credit card payments. Click on the link below to access our online reservation system. Please create an account, log in and follow the prompts to reserve your site. Only one reservation may be made at a time.

Rates are $35.00/night. A credit card use fee of $1.00 for charges up to $40.00 and 2-1/2% for charges over $40.00 will be added.
Also new is the firewood shelter with a supply of cut and split firewood. Please only use what you need.
Camp New Wood County Park is located 10 miles northwest of Merrill along the Wisconsin River on scenic State Highway 107. Camp New Wood is located on the site of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp that was active in the 1930's. The park is approximately 16 acres with 7 camp sites.
The segment of the Wisconsin River passing through Lincoln County is part of the Great Pinery Heritage Waterway providing a scenic paddling experience through some of the least developed sections of the river.
Two open-sided picnic shelters located in the day use are of the park. These two shelters are reservable for gatherings through the Forestry Department. (Please see New Wood Shelter Park for more information.)
Camp New Wood has playground equipment, a picnic area, boat landing on the Wisconsin River, grills, a hand water pump for potable water and pit toilets.
The scenic Wisconsin River Segment of the Ice Age Trail passes through the park and campground.
