The County Clerk's Office is tasked with insuring that all in-county municipal clerks have the resources available to efficiently manage their polling locations.  The County Clerk then canvasses each election and delivers their official results to the Wisconsin Elections Commission.  Questions or concerns regarding Lincoln County Elections should be directed to the Clerk's office.

Below are election dates for 2026 elections.

  • Tuesday, April 7- Spring Election
  • Tuesday, August 11 - Partisan Primary
  • Tuesday, November 3 - General Election/Gubernatorial

Spring Election – election held the first Tuesday in April for Court of Appeals Judge, Circuit Court Judge, County Nonpartisan Offices, Municipal Offices, School District Offices, and referenda (if necessary), and in Presidential years, to express preference for the person to be the presidential candidate for each party.

Partisan Primary – primary held the second Tuesday in August to nominate candidates to be voted for at the general election and referenda (if necessary).

General Election – election held in even-numbered years on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November to elect the President and Vice President of the United States (in Presidential years), United States Senator, Representative in Congress, State Senator, Representative to the Assembly, District Attorney, County Partisan Offices, and referenda (if necessary).

Candidacy Information

Minimum qualifications to hold an office:

  • United States Citizenship
  • At least 18 year of age (or older for certain offices)
  • Satisfy residency requirements for specific office
  • May not have been convicted of a felony in any court in the United States unless pardoned of the conviction.
  • Also, a candidate may not be disqualified by virtue of one or more of the impediments described in s 6.03, Wis. Stats.

Candidates may file a Campaign Finance Registration Statement with the County Clerk upon forming the intent to run for public office.  Candidates may begin circulating nomination papers on April 15, 2026.
The deadline for filing nomination papers is 5:00pm on Monday June 1, 2026.
