Radon

Radon is a colorless, odorless, gas that is found naturally in soil and rock, and can enter buildings through cracks in the basement and walls or gaps around pipes. This odorless gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer, and the first leading cause among non-smokers.

The only way to know if your home has unsafe levels is to test for it.

The Northern Region Radon Information Center has low cost test kits available to order online and experts who can answer your questions.

If your radon levels are high (above 4 pCi/L), a contractor can help lower the levels by installing a radon mitigation system. Find a certified radon contractor
