Be aware of what disasters could affect your area, how to get emergency alerts, and where you would go if you and your family need to evacuate. In addition, learn the terms that are used for weather threats.

There is a high possibility that a weather emergency will occur. When a severe storm watch is issued for your area, continue to listen to the radio or television for updates and pay attention to visible weather changes around you.  Ensure your last minute emergency supplies are gathered.   

Warning

A weather or major emergency is already happening, or will happen soon. When you hear a warning, take immediate action!
