Hiawatha Trail

Named after an old passenger train, the Hiawatha trail follows an abandoned railroad bed through beautiful forests and scenic lakes.

Your adventure begins in SARA Park, leading you across converted railroad trestle bridges, and spanning shimmering lakes that capture the essence of the Northwoods’ beauty.

6.6 miles of trail allow for a wonderful hike or bike ride, perfect for families and welcome to leashed pets.  Parking and restrooms are available at SARA Park, making it a great day trip location to the Northwoods.

If you’re not ready for the adventure to end, you may keep hiking as the Hiawatha trail merges with the Bearskin State Trail in Oneida County.
