Emergency Support Function (ESF) 4 provides local support for the detection and suppression of wildland, rural and. or urban fires exceeding routine response capabilities and resources.
Firefighting is an inherently local responsibility. Local fire resources are often coordinated through mutual aid agreements, such as MABAS. ESF 4 manages and coordinates firefighting activities, including the detection and suppression of fires on local lands. The specific actions and resources required by the incident commander will be determined by the size and magnitude of the event.
