To help prevent the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer through the transporting of firewood, Lincoln County Forestry Department provides campfire wood for the County's campgrounds.

To slow the spread of emerald ash borers and other invasive pests and diseases, we are asking you not to bring firewood in from:

*Outside of Wisconsin.
*More than 10 miles from the campground or property

CAMP NEW WOOD COUNTY PARK is located 10 miles northwest of Merrill along the Wisconsin River on scenic State Highway 107. Camp New Wood is on the site of a Civilian Conservation Corps camp that was active in the 1930's. The park is approximately 16 acres with 7 primitive camp sites. Campsites are not reservable. Camping fees are $15 per night. Two open shelters, both being reservable, are available.

Camp New Wood has playground equipment, a picnic area, boat landing, grills, shelters, hiking trails, water pump and toilets.

The park also includes the scenic Wisconsin River Segment of the Ice Age Trail.

Two sanitary dump stations are available for New Wood Park campers:

OTTER LAKE CAMPGROUND & RECREATION AREA is located 12 miles SE of Tomahawk on Otter Lake Road. There are 25 primitive campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Camping fee is $15.00 per night.

A swimming beach, picnic area, grills, boat landing, nature trails, water pump and toilets are also available for day use. Only non-motorized boats are allowed on Otter Lake.

UNDERDOWN CAMPGROUND is located in the Underdown Recreation Area 13 miles northeast of Merrill on Copper Lake Avenue. There are 11 primitive campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Camping fee is $15.00 per night. Water pump and toilets are located off the main parking lot.

Underdown Recreation Area opportunities include horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking a segment of the Ice Age Trail, hunting within a grouse management unit, and fishing.

CAMPING ON COUNTY FOREST LAND

Overnight camping, including tents, trailers, cars and trucks may be permitted in the County Forest without charge for a period of no more than 14 days. Any camper who violates the rules of good conduct, including cutting or defacing timber, carelessness with fire, violation of game and fishing laws of the State, or improper disposal of garbage and litter shall be subject to ejection from the County Forest and subject to the penalties provided by County and State laws.

When camping on the County Forest, blocking roads, parking areas, or lake access is not permitted.

Camping is not allowed at the following lakes:

High Lake
Fox Lake
Morraine Lake
Henson Lake
Kordick Lake
