Important Election Dates

2024 Election Schedule:

Spring Primary: February 20, 2024

Spring Election: April 2, 2024

Partisan Primary: August 13, 2024

General Election: November 5, 2024

Offices to be Elected in the Spring 2024:

State offices up for election are for the State Supreme Court and Court of Appeals

County offices: County Board Supervisor:  Paperwork Link

Municipal offices: Chair of the Board, Supervisor, Clerk, and Treasurer.

School Board Elections: Merrill, Tomahawk, Rhinelander, and Prentice.

IMPORTANT APRIL 2, PRESIDENTAL PREFERENCE AND SPRING ELECTION:

MARCH 5, 2024  Last day for electors to begin to acquire residency for the Spring Election.  Electors moving after this date may vote from their prior address.

MARCH 11, 2024  First day for special voting deputies to conduct absentee voting for residents in nursing homes and authorized  care facilities for the Presidential Preference Primary and Spring Election.

MARCH 12,  2024  Deadline for municipal clerks to send absentee ballots to electors with valid requests on file for the Spring Election.

MARCH 13, 2024  Deadline for voters to register by mail or online.  Voters may register with their clerk or on election day.

MARCH 19, 2024  Clerks may begin to issue in person absentee ballots in the clerk's office or designated location.

MARCH 28, 2024  Deadline  for regular and overseas voters to request absentee ballots by mail (online, email or fax) for the Presidential Preference Primary and Spring Election. 

MARCH 29, 2024  Deadline for voters to register to vote in the clerk's office.  After that they may register at the polls.

MARCH 31, 2024  Last day for voters to vote in person absentee in the clerk's office.  The Final day is set by the municipality, but this deadline may not exceed March 31.

APRIL 2, 2024  Presidential Preference Primary and Spring Election.  Deadline (8:00 PM) for absentee ballots to be delivered to the polling location.

APRIL 9, 2024  County Board of Canvass Meeting (9:00 AM) to certify the Spring Primary Results.  Meeting will be posted on the county website.
