Department: Land Information and Conservation

County Surveyor
The purpose of the County Surveyor is to re-establish, perpetuate, and maintain the physical and record evidence of the original government survey and to preserve the (PLSS) Public Land Survey System and the records thereof. This data is the basis for accurate land title and boundary location.

The County Surveyor also acts as an approving authority by reviewing survey maps required by the County, and provides technical and/or professional assistance to other Departments and the public concerning issues related to land ownership and/or location.

The Mission of the County Surveyor is to fulfill the duties of Wisconsin Statute Chapter 59.45 and reviewing Certified Survey Maps and Plats for compliance with Chapter 236 of Wisconsin Statutes, and maintaining, indexing and reproducing survey records.
